Honor launches PocketVision for the visually impaired In text-to-speech mode

Honor launches PocketVision for the visually impaired

Honor has launched a new AI app called 'PocketVision' at IFA 2019, which allows people to increase document reading, text clarity, and other hard-to-read texts. So far, three modes are available i.e. text-to-speech mode, zoom mode and negative image mode.

In text-to-speech mode, you can convert text photos to speak faster and more accurately, the app will listen to text from books, documents, signboards and more. It uses the HiAI platform and optical character recognition (OCR) to convert images into text. In zoom mode, users can enlarge the text using the volume button on their device. The negative image mode provides a range of color filters to enhance the text by increasing the text contrast.

PocketVision can be downloaded from Huawei AppGallery and supports Chinese, German, English, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian languages. In addition, the company is working with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to make the blind and poor visually impaired aware of the obstacles. The app is available for download on all Honor smartphones, but usage suggests that it works properly on the Honor 20 series.
